My Thoughts
I like enemies to lovers, but it’s usually the like vaguely intense rivals type. Otherwise, I’m usually the friends to lovers fiend – those loyal best friends who make for those epic slow burns of will-they, won’t they? Well, if you love those too, have I (or rather the author of this delightful read) got a treat for you!! All the slow burn of a friends (or intense rivals) to lovers, and the even more intense enemies to lovers! And, boy, was it intense! There were so many layers and twists and turns going on in this story, it let my head spinning (in a good way) when I finished it.
Political intrigue, romance (somehow steamy and closed door, my favorite kind!), betrayal, brother against brother (figuratively and maybe literally speaking – you’ll have to see I don’t do spoilers), and just so much more! It’s got war, the desert, a harem, a good bad guy, a bad good guy, and just like I said – so much to unpack here! I loved this author’s former series, and to me this is even better!
I loved Yildiz and Dayyan so much. There was just so much to their dynamic, and so much to them separately that made me love them. And Dayyan’s little siblings were another bright spot in the world. Ms. Azizi is such a beautiful world builder, and she is also a great character builder. To be equally skilled at both is a wonderful talent.
I’m so thankful that I was chosen to be on this tour by the author and LBT, and I absolutely can’t wait to see what comes next. I hope it’s more of this because I loved every minute!
