My six-year-old loves Minecraft, so when this one came across my desk, I had to read it – and I loved every minute!

About the Book

Rescue Quest is out today! Grab your pickaxe and get ready to dive into the world of Minecraft like you’ve never seen it before. Join Tom, a timid boy who is bullied and the smallest boy in school, as he embarks on a daring quest to rescue his little sister Alice from the clutches of the game itself.

To succeed, he’ll need to find the courage he never knew he had and form friendships and alliances with a steely warrior and a mystical potions master. Together, they’ll face unknown dangers and battle against a terrifying urban legend who has kidnapped Alice for his own sinister plans.

Through loyalty, sacrifice, and overcoming the bullies, can Tom find his inner hero in this epic battle between good and evil?

Rescue Quest is the first book in a new action-packed adventure series, perfect for readers aged 8-12 who love playing Minecraft and losing themselves in thrilling fantasy worlds.

Available as paperback and ebook from Amazon and as ebook from Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and most other online book stores.

My Thoughts

Minecraft is a huge deal in my house. My husband has been playing since it first came out in 2009. He’s an OG gamer, and he’s raising a little mini-me. At six, our daughter can do some pretty bad-a** things in games that I can’t even imagine. She gets frustrated with me because I do not have the skills. Her birthday was Minecraft-themed, as were our Halloween costumes last year.

Anyway, this is a fantastic story. I’m also trying to raise a little mini-me and foster a reader. So, I’m so excited to see writers and publishers embracing kids’ interests and writing about the things they know they are interested in. My daughter will love this book. I have an ebook copy, but I think I’m going to order her a physical copy because she isn’t into ebooks yet.

The characters are cute and sweet. I admire the sibling relationship and look forward to that growing in future books. I loved the whole family, and the dad reminded me a lot of my husband – who also makes games! The Minecraft world was so well described that I could visualize it quite well. I have played some – just not well, and this writer knows her stuff. Probably from hours of listening and watching her child play it and talk about it. She said in the book that she wrote this story for him, which is so lovely.

Also, I just want to say, that watching other people play Minecraft (both my family, friends, and the YouTube players my daughter is obsessed with) I totally side with the villain on this one. I’ve been thinking the same thing as that guy since the first time I saw someone play that way. I won’t elaborate because I don’t want to spoil it, but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself is all I’m saying.

I am so grateful to the author and Love Books Tours for including me in this tour. Can’t wait to see what else she has in store!

Who’s It For?

Rescue Quest is marketed as children’s fiction for 8 to 12-year-olds. But if you’re a Minecraft lover or love one, you’ll probably appreciate this story. It’s also a pretty great fantasy, in general, though you’ll definitely miss some great Easter eggs if you don’t know anything about the blocky world.

Content Warnings: Violence, Fighting, Danger, Monsters, Fear, Religious/Spiritual Ideology, Discussions of Death, Kidnapping
