About the Book

Tabitha Locke suspects she must be the only twenty-nine-year-old in the UK who doesn’t own a mobile phone. She has a good reason not to.

My Thoughts

Tabitha Locke is an interesting character that you won’t regret spending some time with, and the romance that blossoms between herself and a customer who wanders into her grandad’s key shop is sweet, tentative, and both modern and a blast from the past at the same time.

Without spoilers, the author offers a solid piece of social commentary – something I’m so excited to see more of in the romance arena – on modern technology and the potential evils. With this, she manages to weave together a story of old and new and how as different as they may seem, they can still work together and make something beautiful and special.

The characters in this one are so loveable, except the ones we’re supposed to hate. Tabitha is charming, though there was a point when I wanted to shake her and say just talk to the guy. But it turns out okay. Probably. I don’t want to spoil things for you in case you’re not the sort of person who believes that to be a rom-com that IS a requirement. Our leading man, Rhys, is incredibly adorable and amazing! And in case you think he’s too good to be true, he reminds me a lot of my husband, who also happens to be a computer guy – a programmer though, instead of IT.

For some reason, I had to keep reminding myself it was a key shop, because it felt like it was a book shop. But that was such an interesting choice. I’ve never heard of this kind of key shop and it was so nice to see the relationship between Tabitha and her grandfather. The character growth was gorgeous for her and her grandad. Their relationship also bloomed as her romantic one did.

Who’s It For?

If you love a good romcom, this is a great book. It has some serious themes and offers some excellent social commentary, but that seems to be more common for the genre these days. If you’re looking for a light, fluffy romance, this isn’t it. But it would still make a great, quick read.
