You’ll be “chasing the light” out of your room after you stay up all night reading this book because you need to know what happens next!
About the Book
On the outside, Francesca March is a confident woman and an entrepreneur, but on the inside, she’s a quivering mess with a painful secret.
When she runs into ex-boyfriend Krish Kapadia, old feelings bubble to the surface, but her instincts tell her to push him away again.
He’s still sexy. He still has a bad habit of rescuing her. But she’s still broken. Plus he’s got a nice new girlfriend who could easily win a beauty contest. His life is working out just how he’s always wanted.
But when Krish finally discovers her secret, will that change his plans? Or will he stay the course with the life he always said he wanted? And even if he did choose her, will Francesca let him?
My Thoughts
I adored the first book in this series, and even more, Krish was one of my favorite characters in it. So, knowing that the second book was going to be about him and his love story, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I didn’t realize it was going to be so far in the future, several years – roughly five or more – but it was necessary and great for the story line.
Stella and Connor from the first book are back, which makes sense because Krish is Connor’s assistant and they’re all friends. I wish the story had focused a little less on that story line, but I still enjoyed it. It was a good secondary story line, I was just eager to see more of Francesca and Krish. It’s a rare day when I prefer the MC over side characters, but this is a story about an ex-side character, so hmm..
Francesca is an interesting enigma. As someone who suffers with an invisible chronic illness (I have one of the conditions Francesca does, but also diabetes, migraines, and a few other things) it is AMAZING to see more chronic illness #representation! People deal with these things and young healthy women especially have to suffer through and feel guilt about their limitations. I’ve dealt with things differently than Francesca, but I see how she could have gotten to where she is. Krish reminds me a lot of my husband, and I’m so happy I found him when I did. So, Krish is a fantastic guy. Sure, he’s a little morally grey, but deep down he’s swoon-worthy. And in the end he made the right decisions, I think. Besides, I think we’re all morally grey.
Julia Boggio is an expert at building tension between characters – both sexual and awkward emotional tension. She did it fantastically in both novels, and I can’t wait to see it done just as well in the next. I am so grateful to her and Love Books Tours for including me in this tour, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
Who’s It For?
If you love a good RomCom, you’ll love this book. That’s especially true if you love the kind that rips your heart out a good couple of times along the way – making you think they’ll never get together. But they have to. It’s a romcom, right? But who knows, people write all sorts of wild stories these days. And it keeps you on the edge of your seat, almost like a thriller! Also, if you like to see chronic illness representation, Indian representation, and a heroine who isn’t all sunshine and rainbows (okay, they mostly aren’t these days – but this one extra isn’t) – this is it for you!
