My Thoughts
I always whiz through her books because I absolutely NEED to know what is going on. And she does NOT make it easy! The twists and turns are always absolutely torturous. I’ve also come to know that what seems to be isn’t always true. If everything looks like it’s tied up all in a bow, that doesn’t mean it is.
I’m pretty sure I’m remembering correctly that the first book in this series was the one I said I didn’t like any of the characters except the children. Well, the kids are all grown up, and now they’re even questionable! Having had more time to get to know the Bailey women, I do have a little more sympathy for them. Most of them have done what they think is right and done the best they could with what they had.
Most. And you’ll have to make your judgments about who has and who hasn’t.
Davids’ character building is so gorgeous. I don’t believe that characters have to be likable. People in real life aren’t always, and writing irredeemable characters that don’t turn out just looking ridiculous is a special skill. Also, making an entire cast of characters look just suspicious enough that you’re not sure who to trust takes phenomenal talent. I always consider those the best thrillers when you’re nervous because you can’t figure out who to trust.

Who’s It For?
This is a fantastic book for anyone who loves thrillers, especially domestic, family-focused thrillers. This is the third book in a series, and this one is not a good choice to start with. I believe you need to read the first two before diving into this one. But it is a must-read. So if you haven’t read the others, what are you waiting for?
