My Thoughts

I’ll admit, this isn’t my typical kind of read. I do have an MBA, but I’m not a business person, per se. I got my degree with the intent of opening a bookstore someday. It’s an iffy proposition these days, but not impossible. Maybe I’ll do it someday, but my true dream is to be a writer. I do a lot of writing these days, but mostly book reviews. So, I could probably benefit from this book’s advice.

The author offers up a ton of beautiful little nuggets of wisdom, but a few rubbed me the wrong way, especially the concept that we all have the same 24 hours. Yes, it is an undeniable fact, but it is a little ableist. It also counteracts a previous concept he said that I agree with wholeheartedly – the danger of the word “should.” That’s something we’ve been working on in our house, and let me tell you: when you start realizing that “should” is a horrible word and replacing it with things like “I wish I had,” “I must,” and “I will,” it is powerful!

If you need some help to achieve a goal, I think this book could offer some tools to help you reach it. There are some great resources and tips to help you focus on overcoming the roadblocks holding you back. I enjoyed the personal touches the author included, especially the vulnerability of his personal stories. He has a powerful message, and his 12 steps remind me a little of some other famous 12 steps – but not so much so that I think he’s nabbed them or anything.

I’m grateful to the author and Love Books Tours for including me on this tour!

About the Author

Philip is an author and coach specialising in personal development and helping people find more freedom in their lives and businesses.

He’s the creator of the Freedom Hunters Club and Chained To Champion, and started as an entrepreneur at the age of 16 when he set up his first team with friends at school. Philip spent 22 years working in the videogame industry where he operated events, consulted and managed projects for global brands and governments, and built technology platforms.

After breaking his neck playing rugby at the start of 2020, not being able to afford surgery, and struggling to keep his business going during the COVID lockdowns, Philip began his own personal development journey in 2021.

Following a personal development exercise asking him what impact and contribution he’d made to the world he’s gone on to write a book for parents about how to manage their children’s screen time and online safety, launched a podcast, given up alcohol and completely reshaped his business.
