Wherin My Reading List Keeps Growing!

Oh my gosh! At this rate, by December I’m somehow going to read 100 books in a month. That’s not even physically possible for me, since I am a writer – I did get just a speck of writing done this month – and a homeschool mom. That means I do not get the relief of someone else taking my kid away for most of the day in a few weeks. We’re considering it, but the autism thing has scared us righteously. We’ve had talks with some experts and some of them have told us the majority of issues they have is with the school system. So yeah, if you have any experience with that let me know!

Hope you’ve been having a lovely summer holiday and have gone on a beautiful beach or other vacation! We went to the beach for a bit. My daughter is a little fish. She’s started taking swimming lessons this year and is doing fantastic. We have an amazing swim teacher here who is a miracle worker, especially with children on the spectrum. We feel so blessed to have found her. Our little fish went from “I’m never going back there” to crying bitter tears when she was sick last week and had to miss a lesson.

I’ve somehow managed to read 23 books, let’s partially blame that on holiday. We took a break from schooling this month. We don’t follow the same holidays as schools. We sometimes take breaks because we need them, and we soldier on through the summer because why do we still have the full summer? Not to mention, homeschooling sort of has the philosophy that so much of what we do IS learning. If you have your kids home with you, try to notice how much you’re teaching them too. I try to think about that every time someone tells me they could never homeschool.

We went on a dolphin tour, and we all agreed it was our favorite part of the vacation!

Book Roundup

Anywho, onto the book portion of this blog. If you’re a follower of mine, you’ve seen reviews of most of these. If you missed any, you can find them on my blog or Instagram. And I also post on Goodreads and Amazon. If you’re a reader, please consider leaving reviews with Goodreads and/or Amazon because it really helps the authors! This is especially true of indie authors.

QOTD: What is your favorite book you read in June? Why would you recommend it?

AOTD: I rated six books at 5 stars and loved all of them for their own reasons. But my absolute favorite this month has to be my friend MN Bennet’s book “Three Meant to Be.” It is a witty, exciting fantasy about a magic school. The world-building is awesome and the cast of characters is so well written! You can catch my full review here.

I actually met MN Bennet during/after the book tour for his first book “Crescentville Haunting,” which I also adored, and we’ve managed to develop quite an author friendship. It’s one of the things I love about the modern world. As a kid, I was totally the one who would write letters and emails (when I had them eventually) to my favorite authors. I still remember the one and only time one emailed back. But now, I’ve developed several friendships with writers through social media. Writing can be an isolating profession so it’s awesome to be able to connect.

Here’s a wrapup of all of my July Reads.

I read 23 books total – 3 audiobooks, 16 ebooks, and four physical books.
