My Thoughts
Cliffhangers are amazing. Cliffhangers are the bane of every reader’s existence. When they’re put to such deliciously devious use like they are in this book, you can’t help but admire the sheer craftsmanship. However, now we have to wait on tenterhooks until T.L. Hill releases the next book to find out what happens, which is exactly what her delightful, masterful mind wanted. Hats off to you. I need this next book in my life, and I cannot wait to get it!
Do you need more? Maybe not, but you’re gonna get it. Every chapter was filled with tension you could cut with a knife. We start with an already well-developed serial mystery, dropped into a small town onto the lap of a rookie cop. But she’s got mad riddle skills, and that’s what we need to solve this case. She’s also just got something about her that makes our main, stand-off detective lose his cool – in the good AND bad way. Because sometimes there is a fine line between love and hate. Did I mention the tension, because if you’re into that – whew, boy, it’s there in absolute spades!! Is it hot in here?!
Rosa and Simon couldn’t be worse for each other if they tried. Also, they couldn’t be more perfect for each other if they tried. And, while this isn’t a cozy – it’s way too dark for that – since it features a small town, there was my beloved string of small town characters, including a “Boo Radley” type who let Rosa show off just how amazing she really was.
I really appreciated the old folks gathered at the Waffle House to gossip. If it’s not there, it’s some ol’ coffee shop. If you’re not Southern, you might not know, but this had a very Southern character to it. And as a fellow Southern writer, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I’m so grateful to the author and LBT for including me in this tour, and again, I can’t wait for Book 2!
