If you’re a frequent flyer here, you might’ve noticed that I reviewed the eBook version of this just a few weeks ago. Well, I love this series AND audiobooks so much that I agreed to listen to it all over again. And, as I feel about many books, the audio performance made the book all that more enjoyable.

About the Book

Enjoy a visit to the idyllic Cotswolds where the blackberry jam is delicious, the pumpkins are ripe and a killer is plotting death.

Rarely has murder been so amusing.

Indulge in this quirky and humorous cozy crime novel that will keep you entertained from start to finish. Set in modern-day England, amidst the charming British Cotswold countryside, “Season for Murder” delivers a captivating blend of mystery and comedy. With its light-hearted atmosphere and engaging whodunit plot, this British detective series is a must-read for fans of cozy crime murder mysteries.

My Thoughts

My particular brand of #nuerospicy makes it easier for me to digest literature while listening and doing something else with my hands (cleaning, crocheting, etc.). So, I listen to a lot of audiobooks these days, and even utilize assistive reading technology at times. So, the right performers can make or break an audio performance. And if a person is introduced to the audio format first, they could be won over or lost to an author. I believe if someone stumbles onto this series via audiobook, the narrator – Camilla Simson – has done the author proud, and the charming world of the Fitzmorris ladies will win over any reader. I know I personally love each visit I’ve had with them so far, and I can hardly believe it’s only been three (four if you count this third book twice). Their zany adventures get more fun each time, and I count it among one of the cozy mystery series I look forward to now. For my full thoughts on the ebook, see my first review.

This mystery is set leading up to an All Hallow’s Eve party, similar to Halloween. But it’s also time to announce a new Lord-Lieutenant. It’s always an absolute delight to visit with the three generations of FitzMorris ladies as the matriarch, Dee, narrowly escapes death. I also adore the town, which is full of loveable, quirky characters – always my favorite part of cozies. This town even goes as far as featuring two clowns, a grumpy anti-establishment ranter, a pleasant lady vicar, and several other colorful personalities! If you need a nice, gentle vacation with a side of mild murder, you can’t go wrong with the Cotswolds.

I’m so grateful to the author and Love Books Tours for including me on this audiobook tour, and I can’t wait for the next one!

Who’s It For?

If you’re a cozy mystery fan, you will love this series. This one, set near Halloween or All Hallow’s Eve and drenched in all manner of cozy aspects, is especially amazing for the average cozy lover. I can’t recommend this series for cozy lovers enough. It’s my favorite genre, alongside thrillers, and has been for more than a decade, so unlike some of the other genres, I know a good one when I see it! I also love that, except for the obvious ones, it’s hard to come up with content warnings for cozy mysteries. And, often, even if they are there, they’re dealt with delicately and gently. So, if you need a break from the bad of the world, visit a world where things are going bad, but somehow it feels really cozy.

Content Warnings: Death, Drowning, Murder, Violence, Politics, Betrayal, Mental Illness

About the Author

Anna A. Armstrong writes uplifting, cosy mysteries. Set in rural villages, they overflow with friendship, warm family relationships, delicious food, beautiful gardens and romance as well as the odd murder to spice things up. At the heart of her stories are her colourful characters who have their own varied foibles. There is nothing like a spot of murder for revealing who people are and what makes them tick.

Growing up in home counties England, Anna was surrounded with dogs and horses as well as the wide variety of people who make up village life. Her observation skills were further honed by studying Anthropology at university. Much to her family’s embarrassment, she often can’t resist pulling out a pad and sketching random strangers in a restaurant.

When not indulging her love of travelling, Anna divides her time between the quintessentially English village of Burford in the Cotswolds and the rugged Isle of Man, the jewel of the Irish Sea. She is passionate about food, her garden, her three dachshunds, family and latterly trick riding, just in case running off to the circus becomes an option!
