24 Books To Kick of 2024
If you’ve been here the whole time, you know I love books. You’ll know I’m passionate about writing them, reading them, talking about them, and helping other people do them. It’s the core of all of my business – including, up until recently, homeschooling my daughter. Though admittedly overwhelmed, my husband and I decided to try her in a school setting this semester. But it’s still not a traditional school. It’s a micro-school, which is just homeschooling in a setting that someone else is doing – she just happens to be an ex-teacher.
Anyway, all of this is to say, even with the fire show that 2023 was for everyone, and even more on a personal level – in our house, we got an ADHD, ASD, and dementia diagnosis; two new house members (one who barks a lot); decided to move houses; and faced multiple mental health episodes and physical health hospital visits – I somehow read 156 books. Goodreads says 158, but I realized they double-counted two of them. I’d argue it’s because of all those things I managed to read all those books. I needed escapism! I needed somewhere else to be! Also, insomnia hit me like a son of a gun in the middle of the year. Me and 4-5 a.m. were best friends for a while there. And I wasn’t refreshed, couldn’t sleep. So I couldn’t clean or get anything else productive done. So I read.
If you find yourself in need of some escape, I’d highly recommend all of these books. If you need more recommendations, check out my entire blog or ask! I’m always up for offering recommendations.
