It’s Christmas Eve and a perfect snow day, or so it seems. Sledging, building snowmen, making snow angels, and having snowball fights. But wait! What is this? Why is Rupert racing back up the hill? Join him and his mummy as they are forced to embark on a Snowy Adventure Rescue…
Written in a dyslexia-friendly font so all children can enjoy reading this winter tale.
Clarion says: “Rupert’s Snowman is a captivating picture book in which a boy develops a creative solution to a snowman’s loneliness.”
My Thoughts
This is an adorable, sweet tale about a little boy and a perfect snowy day. The story focuses on the little boy, but it shows a mother’s love throughout beautifully. And throughout the boy’s actions, you can see how well he has been loved.
This is a great book to add to your holiday collection. The images are stunning and the fact that it is written in a dyslexia-friendly font is icing on the cake. I’m so glad that so many children’s books are starting to be more inclusive with their fonts.
It’s a short, simple tale that can easily be read before bedtime and fit into your normal routine. And, if you have one of those who likes to have the same story read three times, it’s short enough for that, too.
I’m grateful to the author and Love Books Tours for including me in this tour.
Who’s It For?
This book is marketed for kids age 3 to 5 years old. My daughter is 5 and that seems about right. Slightly older kids might enjoy it, especially because they might be able to read it themselves. And slightly younger kids might still enjoy it being read to them as well.
About the Author
Phillipa Warden (1971) attended the Royal College of Art and the ICE at Cambridge University studying Creative Writing. She wrote her first children’s picture book Rupert’s Snowman after her son refused to leave his snowman on the hill after a snow day. It is a fun and empathetic tale that launched in September 2020. She is currently editing her second book, for her daughter, having been playfully accused of favouritism towards Rupert.
Phillipa is also the portrait artist at Tortoise Media.
