I’m excited to be on the tour for this fast-paced, dystopian, techno-thriller!
About the Book

Captain Zail Jent has crashed her malfunctioning craft on Earth.
She gets out in time before it slips into a river, marooning her in a climate-ravaged, hostile part of the planet. And her smart suit that mind controls and protects her
through a meds feed has failed, causing drug withdrawal amnesia and sickness. If she doesn’t get help soon, she is going to die.
With Zail’s memory gone, she puzzles over who she is, where she comes from, and what she is meant to do here. And how is she going to get home?
As her memory returns, Zail begins to question whether home is what she thought it was, forcing her to cast doubt on everyone.
But what if she is the one who should be feared?
My Thoughts
Warning: This review has very mild spoilers. I don’t think they really ruin anything, but if you hate even the tiniest spoilers – be warned.
This second book was just as fast-paced, twisty, and dystopian as the first one by Bob Fairbrother “Project Deadhead,” which I read just a few months ago. In fact, if you’re a dystopian lover, this one gives harder. The author has crafted an absolutely chilling world where some people are called “livestock,” and the elite essentially get to decide who gets into “heaven.”
Like many dystopian books, it all feels a little too close to home. But I don’t want to give any big spoilers. You’ll have to read the story yourself. I will say that the main character shows immense character growth, and the reason why has some things to say about society. This is also true of the MC’s first companion, as well as the author’s intriguing use of AI in the story. It’s not your typical AI tale in the current climate, and it definitely makes you think.
The male MC is a really nice guy. I’d definitely love to see more of both of the MCs in future stories and see how their friendship develops. The male MC’s mom was a fiesty lady and was easily my favorite character in the whole read. I have a love for secondary characters, but I also think it shows a good writer when you can make those characters shine!
The villains were also very well written, which is another testament to good writing – writing good and bad characters well is a feat! Meanwhile, I felt immersed in the setting, impressive since it was a futuristic, dystopian place hard to imagine.
I highly recommend reading this if you’re a fan of techno thrillers and dystopian futures!! But be sure to check the warnings.
I’m so grateful to the author and LBT for including me in this tour!
