Weaving humor, powerful personal and client stories, and useful techniques, the author really practices what she’s preaching in this intriguing and impactful read. Considering that, I too, am in the business of storytelling -just in a different way, I felt very drawn to the read. And I was in no way dissapointed by what I found.

My Thoughts
Oftentimes, nonfiction books can be so dry I fall right asleep. Despite having a business degree, you won’t usually find me reading books on the subject because they are often boring – or worse – make wild promises and are just silly. This is something this author discusses in her book. She makes really smart claims, not promising over the top millionaire “American” dream nonsense that will just leave you feeling bad when you don’t succeed.
Since she is selling storytelling it’s good that she uses a lot of it in the book and honestly, she’s pretty good. If she ever comes up with a fiction tale, she has a best-seller there in her future. Either way, she had a lot of great tips for the business side of the writing gig and the storytelling side.
She also said something I wholeheartedly agree with even though I am an editor by trade. Storytelling is the important part. You can write beautifully, but if you have nothing to say it’s no good. Likewise, we can clean up some messy writing if you have a great story! She also emphasized that all of us do have something to say, we just sometimes have a hard time figuring out what that is.
I really enjoyed reading this one and whether you have a business or not, I believe you will find value. If you’re here take it as a sign! She talks a lot about how women especially let their stories be stifled. If you feel like you’ve ever done that or let imposter syndromehold you back – Grab this one up! I’m so grateful to the author andLove Books Tours for including me on this tour. This is definitely one of those books I’ll end up revisiting again and again!
Question of the Day
